"BANDHAN", is second effort by writer Manoj. "CHANDRIKOTSAV", the
first was a KAVYA KHAND, the book is successfully running second
edition. "BANDHAN" is a fictional account of a family afflicted by
mental disorders. The novel spread on 59 chapters in 312 pages is
the outcome of hard work put in by the writer for several months. It
portrays the pitiable living condition of a family, one of whose
member suffers from Schizophrenia, a kind of mental disease. The
story is based on realities of life and problems like "Mood
Disorder", "Depression", and "Mania". "Schizophrenia" can be called
as "Thought Disorder" also. Human values, Family relationships and
Social attitudes of the person suffering from this mental disease
have been depicted in very simple and easy to understand language.
The pain and suffering affecting all members of the family and their
emotional bond even in suffering will move the readers emotionally.
The number of patients is on the rise due to one or the other
reasons today. The dreaded disease of this new era though is curable
partially, even then relief is available only if treatment from a
qualified doctor is taken on a regular basis. The ray of hope
delineated in the novel will certainly help patients and their loved
ones to come out of the gloominess caused by Schizophrenia or any
other mental affliction. Here lies the uniqueness of this novel and
makes it a "must read" book.
